Who's Tom?
Hey, I'm Tom S. Ray, head mastering engineer at Audio Unity Group Glasgow, UK. I've been mastering tunes for over 12 years now, teaching mastering for the past five years and lecturing at Edinburgh College.
I've worked with hundreds of bands on their releases and helped students worldwide in their mastering journey.
When I started out (around 2008), there were no courses, YouTube or anything like that, so I had to learn by going to mastering houses and basically observing, making notes and serving coffee..
But that taught me what mastering actually is and how to approach it.
In 2015 I made a complete ITB (in the box - no hardware) switch, which really improved how quickly and efficiently I could master songs.
Since 2019 I've been teaching mastering in classes and via online curriculum..
